
Mission Statement
The mission of AIA New England is to promote the strengthening of the New England states as a region for the purposes of:
- Presenting regional interest to AIA national with a unified voice.
- Promoting regional leaders on a national level.
- Better serving AIA New England members.
- Advancing the value of New England architects.
- Improving the quality of the built environment in the region.
- Improving communications between AIA New England and architecture schools.
Services to New England Members:
- Advancing the value of architects within the region
- Represent regional interests to national AIA with a unified voice
- Communication between members of the New England board, the Regional Directors, and the national Board
- Strengthen the influence of New England architects regionally and nationally
- Promote regional leadership and continuity within AIA New England

Regional Directors to the National AIA:
Erica Rioux Gees AIA is an associate with Kuhn Riddle Architects, a 17 person architecture, planning and interiors design firm in Amherst, MA, where she focuses on planning and design in multi-family housing, commercial and institutional projects for area colleges. As President of Western Mass AIA, she was instrumental in the success of several SDAT programs in Western Mass. She continues her public outreach work promoting smart growth and sustainable development in the region as a representative for WMAIA to PVPC and PV Sustain. For AIA she has served on the Committee for Design Assistance since 2006 and has led numerous SDAT grants throughout the country. She is currently serving as AIA Disaster Assistance Coordinator for MA and served on Amherst Design Review Board from 2001-2005. Email.
Greg Ames AIA is a partner in the Southington, CT firm of Ames and Whitaker. The firm specializes in federal, state, and local government projects as well as educational facilities and commercial/industrial buildings. Greg was elected to the executive committee of AIA Connecticut (secretary, treasurer, vice president, president) and served on several of its committees. He held similar offices on the New England Regional Council board of directors, before his election to the national AIA board. He’s a member and former officer of the Connecticut Building Congress board, the Construction Specifications Insitute, and the Construction Institute’s board of advisors. Email.
