Each State and Local Chapter is encouraged to establish at least one voting Associate Director position on its Board of Directors. This Director would be responsible for coordinating activities, events and issues with its Associate members and other state and regional Associate Directors. As a critical communication link between national, state, and local levels, Directors would also provide its component with a resource for evaluating programs, services and issues.
Firm Auxiliary Coordinators: AIA National has created a new position, the Firm Auxiliary IDP Coordinator. Essentially, each state has one IDP State Coordinator, and each accredited school has one IDP Educator Coordinator. These individuals cannot be the only ones promoting IDP, and answering intern questions. If each firm had an in-house IDP coordinator, with the correct information, then many more interns would get the information they need, and the work load of these other coordinators would be reduced dramatically. To become an firm auxiliary coordinator email idp@aia.org and provide the person's name, firm name, and contact info. for both. Coordinators will be given access to the AIA's coordinator web site which provides all necessary resources, and will receive The Coordinator, the monthly newsletter for all coordinators.
NCARB - New online record application and transfer record request forms are now available online.
Jason Pettigrew Memorial ARE Scholarship: The NAC is requesting component support of this scholarship. It is only with future contributions, the fund can continue to be used to build on Jason's efforts of promoting professional development and licensure by awarding ARE Scholarships in his honor. www.aia.org/nac_AREscholarship

AIA Connecticut
There are two new, exciting changes coming to AIA Connecticut! We will soon be moving to new quarters and unveiling a new website. In mid June we will move into our new home at 370 James Street in New Haven. The new space will allow us to hold more on-site programming in what will be a much larger conference space with state of the art audio/visual.
The redesigned website will bring a fresh face and clean look to AIA Connecticut. We think you will find the new site easy to navigate while providing all the information you are looking for. The design process was a long, carefully thought out exercise.
We are looking forward to both of these changes and we invite you to pay us a visit.

AIA Maine
After more than two decades of defeated proposals, the Maine Legislature, with assistance and lobbying from AIA Maine and other design and construction organizations, has enacted a Uniform Building and Energy Code. This code will replace all building and energy codes adopted by state agencies and municipalities which have created a crazy quilt of codes over the Maine landscape. The newly-signed law will provide that beginning July 2010, the Maine Uniform Building and Energy Code must be enforced in a municipality that has more than 2,000 residents (enforcement of the Code in municipalities with fewer than 2,000 residents is optional). The Code utilizes the International family of codes.
AIA Maine's 2008 biennial design awards programs will culminated with a gala celebration at Bowdoin College on June 11. The exhibit of close to 40 entries is on display at the newly renovated Walker Museum beginning on the 11th through the month of June. Then in the following months, the exhibit will go on tour to the Bangor Public Library, University of Maine and during the AIA New England Conference at the University of Southern Maine gallery on the Portland campus. As in years past there will be an awards catalog featuring the award winners along with all entries. For a look at the winners go to: www.aiamaine.org.
The 2008 AIA New England Design Awards CFE is available at www.aiamaine.org.
Conference registration will be available mid-August. The event, October 3- 4, will be located in Portland's Old Port district and will focus on education, entertainment and the environment.
Needless to say, this has been one of the busiest years ever for the Chapter, but, hopefully, this new level of activity has launched a new level of participation for the future.
